Two German women, Michi and Joanna, regularly travel to eastern Ukraine to help animals in areas close to the front line. Together with their young Ukrainian friend Alex, they supply animal shelters and villages close to the front with food. When the Russian army launches a new offensive on Kharkiv, they rescue animals from abandoned villages under fire. In the midst of the chaos, a cinematic documentary about animal love, courage and excessive demands is created.
Animal rescue UA/ Tierretcherinnen in der Ukraine- Leben auf Risiko is a documentary about animal love under extreme conditions – and an attempt to understand why people help where others have long since given up.
